Moon’s Spawn: Archival Clamshell Box for Gardens of the Moon

$95.00

Some battles begin not with swords, but shadows—and the first war in the Malazan chronicles is one of gods, sorcery, and smoke. Moon’s Spawn is a handcrafted archival clamshell box built to preserve the Subterranean Press edition of Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson. Designed for collectors of fine press and epic fantasy, it offers a lasting sanctuary for the story that launched a legend.

Each case is constructed from archival-quality binder’s board and wrapped in medium brown linen book cloth. The tray walls and spine insert are covered in lustrous copper Japanese book cloth, echoing the burnished tones of the dust jacket and the flickering torchlight of a world in twilight. Inside, the trays are lined with buffered archival cardstock in a complementary shade, creating a secure, acid-free environment for long-term preservation.

A recessed spine label features a deep copper sword and border to match the copper tones of the tray cloth. Printed on premium vellum photo paper and coated in archival acrylic, the label offers both durability and refined finish.

Let the warrens open. Let empires rise and fall. This box keeps the first spark of the Malazan flame preserved, sharp, and sealed against the turning world.

As the saga unfolds, so too will this series of enclosures. Each future Malazan Book of the Fallen volume released by Subterranean Press will receive its own archival clamshell box, crafted in harmony with those before it. The outer cloth will remain constant, a unifying shell, while the inner trays will echo the palette of each dust jacket—shades drawn from battlefields, warrens, and distant continents. Recessed labels, bordered with blades, will carry forward the visual lineage, ensuring that each box is both a tribute to its volume and a piece of the whole.

Product images forthcoming.
