The Hollowing: Archival Clamshell Box for Sarafina by Philip Fracassi

$95.00

This is a preorder. Production is scheduled to begin in 4–6 weeks.

In the hush that follows battle, memory becomes a kind of haunting.

The Hollowing is a handcrafted clamshell enclosure made to preserve the signed & numbered edition of Sarafina by Philip Fracassi, published by Earthling Publications. Set against the smoldering wreckage of the American Civil War, Sarafina is a tale of three Confederate brothers who desert the battlefield, only to stumble into a deeper kind of horror - a homestead offering sanctuary, and something far less human beneath its soil.

Bound in war’s quiet aftermath, this case serves as a reliquary for that descent. The exterior is wrapped in Union-blue linen cloth, sturdy and resolute. But within, the tray walls are sheathed in Confederate gray - a color buried beneath the surface, like deserters slipping between shadows, unseen but not unburdened. The internal contrast reflects the story’s deeper fracture: the pull between escape and consequence, mercy and myth.

The spine and front cover feature custom recessed labels, each printed on premium vellum photo paper and coated with archival acrylic for durability and clarity. The design draws inspiration from the star-shaped creek on Sarafina’s land - an unnatural geometry carved into the woods, both beautiful and foreboding.

This is more than a case. It is a vessel for erosion - a hollowing-out of body, brotherhood, and belief. Something sacred made strange. Something kind made hungry, and what lingers in the dark between mercy and malice.

Dimensions: 10.06 in (25.5 cm) H × 6.89 in (17.5 cm) W × 1.76 in (4.5 cm) D

Compatibility: Sized for the Earthling Publications signed & numbered edition of Sarafina by Philip Fracassi.

NOTES

  • This listing is for the archival enclosure only; a copy of Sarafina is not included.

  • Each enclosure is built by hand, one at a time - production timelines shift depending on the backlog as every piece gets the attention it deserves.

  • We currently ship to the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Australia. For international inquiries beyond these regions, please contact us for a custom quote.
