The Cold Communion is a handcrafted archival clamshell box built to preserve the Lettered Edition of Boys in the Valley by Philip Fracassi, as published by 19th Edition Press. It is an enclosure for isolation and silence—a cradle for a cry lost in winter.
Wrapped in black vegan leather with a goatskin grain, the case’s exterior is cold to the eye and warm to the touch. The interior tray walls are covered in dark blue linen, and the tray floors are lined with gray Laval suede, soft as breath against the cold. Together, they hold the novel in quiet tension.
The recessed labels on the spine and front cover are inspired by the valley itself—white silence, distant trees, the weight of a hundred watching eyes. Printed on premium vellum photo paper and treated with an archival acrylic coating, they are frostbitten but enduring.
This is a case for solitude and survival. For remembering what was buried.
